PALISADE AMERICAN HORNBEAM
Description
An improvement of our native American Hornbeam, Palisade has an upright, oval growth habit that gives this small tree a stately appearance. A slow-growing tree, it is ideal for smaller yards, parks, and parkways. Green leaves turn shades of red, orange, and yellow in the fall. Catkins produce nutlets that persist into the winter. Palisade prefers full sun to part shade, but can tolerate light shade. It grows best on moist, well-drained soils.
