Plant in partial shade in moist, well drained soil. This is a biennial and will reseed. Do not try to divide them as columbines do not like to be disturbed. The mounded foliage is topped with upright flower stems, bloom time is in May to June. Plant in groupings and mix with other tall, loose structured plants and grasses. Columbines are very nice in the perennial border. This also can be used as a cut flower. Attracts hummingbirds.
