EUROPEAN BLACK ALDER
Description
European Black Alder is a tough and versatile tree with the ability to fix it’s own nitrogen. While it prefers moist, well-drained soils, it can grow in wet areas, dry sites, and poor soils. Glossy, deep green leaves have no significant fall color. Male catkins bloom in early spring. Both male and female catkins persist in the winter. This is a good tree for tough situations.
