PLUME GRASS (HARDY PAMPAS)
Description
Plume Grass has similiar flower and height as Pampas Grass, but is hardier for northern regions. A great specimen or back of the border plant, it forms a large clump with grey-green, blade-like leaves reaching up to 5′ high. Late summer flower panicles rise from the clump, soaring up to 12′ tall, opening to reveal a silver plume with hints of purple. This grass is drought tolerant once established. If grown in moist soils, it may need support. May reseed in optimal conditions.
