SCARLET OAK
Description
Large tree with a rounded, open crown of glossy foliage, best known for its brilliant autumn color. The red fall color extends well into winter, making an excellent splash against the white snow. Thin, brown bark has fine fissures and scaly ridges. Will tolerate drought once established and black walnut. Prefers acidic soils. Acorns are loved by large songbirds, squirrel, and deer. This is a stately tree for the lawn.
