WHITE SHIELD OSAGE ORANGE
Description
A tough native, White Shield is a fruitless, thornless, osage orange variety. Although a fast grower, the wood of this tree is very strong, withstanding heavy snow and severe winds. White Shield seems to be very resistant to both disease and insect damage, and can grow well in a variety of soil conditions and moisture levels. Plant White Shield where other trees struggle. Dark green, glossy leaves form a dense canopy and turn a clear yellow in fall. Bark has an interesting orange hue to it.
