PRAIRIE DROPSEED
Description
Prairie Dropseed is an Illinois native found in dry prairies. It has an attractive mounding growth habit with fine-textured foliage. Deep-green blades turn golden-orange in the fall. Tan seedheads are a good winter food source for birds. Prairie Dropseed is tolerant of drought and clay soils once established, but avoid wet sites. It is a great perennial for a native garden, and looks great with butterflyweed and Purple Prairie Clover.
