HUMMINGBIRD SUMMERSWEET
Description
Native to the east coast, Summersweet is a great shrub to add to your yard for fragrant summer blooms. Leathery green leaves turn bright yellow in the fall. Spikes of white flowers bloom in mid-summer, and have a sweet fragrance to them. These flowers are a good nectar source for butterflies and bees. Seed capsules persist into the winter. Summersweet can tolerate wet soils, acidic soils, and clay soils once established. Plant as a specimen or a border where people can enjoy the flowers.
