SWAMP MILKWEED
Description
Swamp Milkweed is native to wetland areas in Illinois. However, it can adapt to moist to average soils in a garden. Clusters of deep pink, vanilla-scented flowers bloom throughout the summer, and are attractive to bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds. Deep green leaves turn yellow in the fall. Swamp milkweed is a great choice for a rain garden or other wet areas. It is a low maintenance plant once established. It is a food source for Monarch butterfly caterpillars. A good companion plant with Cardinal flower
