It’s that time of year where many are enjoying a little time off work and finding quality time with family and friends. Looking for some fun plant-based activities that will also spruce up your home for winter break? Look no further…


Build a Wreath

What you’ll need:
• Fresh Cut Greens
   – A few options: Noble Fir, Blue Coned Cedar, Green Spruce, Arborvitae
• Berries or Accents
   – A few options: Winter Berries, Gold Winter Berries, Dogwood Branches, Ornaments, Pine Cones
• Wreath Form
• Pruning Shears
• Paddle Wire


Steps:
1. Make small cuttings of the ends of your greens and accents.
2. Attach your wire to your form feeding it through and wrapping it around taught. Do not cut the wire.
3. Make a pretty bundle of your greens, a few branches, and some accents. *Make these relative to the size of your wreath form.
4. Lay your bundle on top of your wire and wrap the wire around your bundle tightly 3 times to secure it.
5. Place your second bundle moving down your wreath form, but placing it to overlap the mechanics of your first bundle. *Flare your second bundle towards the outside of your wreath form.
6. Place your third bundle moving down your wreath form, but placing it to overlap the mechanics of your second bundle. *Flare your second bundle towards the inside of your wreath form just slightly.
7. Continue placing your bundles in this A/B format for the remainder of your wreath. One bundle flaring outside and the next bundle flaring just slightly inside.
8. Once you find yourself at the end of your wreath, finish it off with a smaller bundle to fill in the tiny end gap. Lift up your first bundle you placed gently and place your final bundle underneath. *You may need to do another small bundle to fill in the gap.
9. Finalize your wreath with a wire to hang and voila!


Create a Centerpiece


What you’ll need:
• Fresh Cut Greens
   – A few options: Noble Fir, Blue Coned Cedar, Green Spruce, Arborvitae
• Berries or Accents
   – A few options: Winter Berries, Gold Winter Berries, Dogwood Branches, Ornaments, Pine Cones
• Candle Votives

Steps:
1. Lay down the greenery long-ways on your table.
2. Add a vertical element like candle votives.
3. Decorate the bottom of your candle votives with pine cones.
4. Sprinkle in some ornaments with a paperclip and secure them into your greens or garland.
5. Add additional accents in groups to create a beautiful holiday centerpiece.
