SPICE ISLAND VIBURNUM
Description
Chosen for its compact size, but this viburnum is mighty in performance. Dark red clusters of flower buds appear in late April giving way to incredibly fragrant white flowers in May. Most viburnums flower before leaves appear, but the blooms of ‘Spice Island’ wait for the dark green foliage to provide a backdrop for the large, spicy-sweet flower clusters. A final show of deep, wine-red leaf color erupts in fall. This is a slow-growing shrub which will do best in full sun with well-draining soil.
