Description
Black Hills spruce is a variety of white spruce that is native to the Black Hills, South Dakota area. It is actually the state tree of South Dakota. Having a denser, more compact habit than the straight species, this variety works well in the home landscape. Evergreen needles are green to blue-green and very resistant to winter burn. This tree provides nesting sites and winter cover for birds. Drought tolerant once established.
