WINTER KING HAWTHORN
Description
Winter King is a cultivar of our native Green Hawthorn. Clusters of bright white flowers bloom in mid-late spring. Glossy, deep green leaves turn attractive shades of red and orange in the fall. Flowers develop into bright red and yellow fruits that are a good winter food source for birds. Bark is mottled gray when young. Winter King has a broad crown that gives a stately look to the landscape. Native hawthorns are an important larval food source for many butterfly species, and attract migratory birds.
